The students worked very hard during the month of February. Thank you for sending in items for the 100th Day of School and Valentine’s Day. The students have been working hard during literacy groups to become independent and fluent readers. Please continue to read with your child each night! The more a student reads the better reader he or she will become.

In science, the students will continue learning about light and shadows.

During, social studies the students are learning about historical figures. Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Benjamin Franklin, and Mary McLeod Bethune are just a few historical figures the students have been learning about. Ask your child to tell you an interesting fact they have learned.

In math, the students will continue working on addition and subtraction strategies. The students will identify related facts, solve to find the unknown addend and add three numbers. The students are adding 2 digit numbers with and without regrouping. We are going to begin a unit on geometry and measurement during the month of March.
